Mayrant Construction was built on a Mississippi legacy of craftsmanship, mentorship, and doing business the right way—values that still shape how we operate today. Founded as a commercial general contractor in 1999, Mayrant has earned a reputation for delivering new construction and renovation projects with a strong track record of quality, schedule reliability, and disciplined budgeting.

In 2023, Mayrant expanded to meet growing client needs by launching a dedicated Utility Construction division alongside our established general construction arm. This growth allows us to deliver more complete solutions—combining experienced leadership, trusted trade partners, and field-focused execution across both commercial and utility work.

Today, Mayrant is led by President John McIlwain and Vice President/Lead Estimator Nick Kaminer, who assumed ownership in 2025 and are focused on building the next chapter of the company. Our direction is clear: invest in our people, strengthen client partnerships, and continue delivering dependable, high-quality work—while reinforcing a jobsite culture rooted in safety.

Meet the Team

  • John McIlwain

    PRESIDENT

    John serves as President of Mayrant Construction, bringing more than three decades of proven leadership and hands-on experience across the construction industry. He has been a key part of the Mayrant team since 1999.

  • Nick Kaminer

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Nick Kaminer is Vice President of Mayrant Construction and serves as the company’s Lead Estimator, bringing construction industry experience dating back to 2004. He joined Mayrant in 2020 and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi.

  • Matt McCurdy

    UTILITY OPERATIONS MANAGER

    Matt serves as our Utility Operations Manager, overseeing all utility construction projects from planning and coordination through execution and closeout. He works closely with project teams and field leadership to keep schedules, safety, and quality standards on track while delivering reliable results for clients.

  • Josh Carver

    PROJECT MANAGER

    Josh is our Project Manager and oversees our company’s safety program, with project management experience spanning back to 2014. He earned his B.S.B.A. from Mississippi College and focuses on building well-executed projects while strengthening a jobsite culture rooted in planning, accountability, and safety.
